12/10/2017 0 Comments 2018 Goals & Word - First Things FirstAt the end of last year, I chose Romans 12:2 to be my focus verse for the year...”Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.” As I’ve been thinking and praying about 2018, this CS Lewis quote keeps coming to mind. I want to be better at putting first things first. First things often get put on the back burner for the second things that generally come with due dates, deadlines and dictates from others. They aren't necessarily bad things -- in fact, they are often good things -- but they aren't first things. They aren't the most important things. Second things can easily consume us, making no room for first things. We can spend our precious time chasing and completing second things, left too exhausted and spent to get to the first things. I want to be intentional in 2018 about putting first things first. My corresponding verse for the year is Matthew 6:33, "But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you." First things - seeking the kingdom of God; Second things -- "all these things" will be added to you. Put first things first, and you get second things thrown in. Put second things first, and you lose both first and second things. What are your goals for 2018? What is your verse for the year? I've put together a worksheet to jot down some goals in several categories for 2018. Nothing fancy, just a way to stop and think though where you want to go and what you want to do in 2018. There is also a page to brainstorm your first things and "one word" for the year. It is a way to keep your goals and focus top of mind. Once you have your word for the year, head over to Rewritten. They will create a custom cuff for you...only $30...and proceeds support Bochy's Place, a local transitional home, rebuilding women who have been rescued from sex slavery. Click here to order.
