Better Together

Picture
Background Photo: Jars of Hope

Who are your three? Do you have a group of good friends? Friends who have your back, hold you accountable, join you for coffee when you are having a rough day, listen while you vent or cry or question why, drop off dinner when you are at the end of your rope, celebrate victories with you as if they are their own?

I'll admit, this is a tough area for me. I'm naturally introverted and independent. It is so hard for me to ask for help and I hate to "burden" anyone with my problems.

But is it necessary AND biblical. We are not supposed to do this hard life on our own. We were created in God's image for community. God models this being three persons in one -- God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. A cord of three strands...not easily broken, indeed!

I'm challenged to think about how I can better embrace community and resist my inclination to do things on my own. My deep desire is to be living in God's will and I know this includes strong community and solid friendships.

God, help me to be a good friend and embrace the good friendships in my life. Thank you for the amazing girlfriends in my life.
