11/9/2017 0 Comments Get Behind Me, Satan“Get behind me, Satan.” Honestly in some moments when I️ feel I️ am in an intense spiritual assault, this is my battle cry. Just after praising Peter for rightfully acknowledging Him as Lord and Savior, Jesus says these words to Peter. Peter was at a point of nearness to Jesus, recognizing the glory and majesty of who He was. So hearing Jesus say He was soon going to die generated a very human and combative response from Peter. Peter was feeling good about himself for having answered correctly about Jesus and slipped into letting HIS nature and desires take over. Jesus was his friend. He loved Jesus and didn't want Him to suffer. But this wasn't God's plan. The devil is a master at convincing us it is about us, that we know best, and we need to take charge. He craftily entices us to shift our mind from things of God to things of man/us. Jesus won’t stand for it though. He sees it in Peter and He immediately and forcefully calls it out. If it works for Jesus, it can work for us too. Who is saying it with me today? “Get behind me, Satan.” Amen! Take some time to read Matthew 16:13-23 today.
