The picture quote was advice to new college students from a Michigan State University Senior 🧡 Advice for all of us! Earlier today I posted a survey to get feedback from college girls to help with a Bible study I am working on. And oh my...the responses I am getting are confirming big time why God put this project on my heart. Like THIS from a University of North Carolina at Charlotte Sophomore... “Going into college I was a very strong christian, highly involved in church; I graduated from a private christian high school. But none of that really prepared me for the pressures college had. Appearance, alcohol, and attention from boys were my down falls. I became a typical “party girl” in a matter of DAYS. And before a full month could go by I had given in too A LOT of things I had always told myself I wouldn’t do, or would wait for. The peer pressure and the desire to seem desirable was soooo overwhelming... I wish someone had been REAL and RAW and STRAIGHT UP with me... I was in no way prepared for what was coming. I had never really been in a situation where I had to learn to stand up for what was right, so when that situation did come I was so overwhelmed. I wish parents and schools were open to the truth of college- that kids are gonna be faced with these things and they need to know how to handle it. But they also need to know that if they do make a mistake it’s not the end game... To new college girls, I’d say this, ‘Don’t lose yourself. Don’t feel like the girls in the crop tops are having more fun than you. That the boys wearing greek letters and duck boots are the only ones you can date. Throw your hair in a pony tail and binge watch The Office on a friday night. Peer pressure is a REAL thing. As I look back now I know that if I had just stayed in a couple more nights, and hadn’t listened to the girls I barely knew on my hall, I probably wouldn’t have made a habit of making mistakes.’”🧡 I’m even more fired up about this study. If you are a college girl or recent grad, I would love your thoughts. Here is a LINK to the survey. 🧡
