Make a Point, or Make a Difference

Picture
Oh boy, I’m talking to ME here.

I was listening to a sermon podcast from
Joby Martin on my walk today and I was certainly convicted in this area. I can waste a lot of valuable prayer time on my phone. How many precious quiet moments have I missed with God because I chose instead to scroll through social media. To check on my Instagram feed. To see what people are doing on Facebook. To read the latest debate on Twitter.

Time I used to spend talking to God I now often fill with time on my "smart" phone. It is so convicting to me. God is just waiting for us to speak to Him and instead we are worshiping

Then I heard the tragic news out of Texas of a shooting in a church service killing over 20 people and injuring even more. And like the other tragedies recently experienced, we are sometimes (with good intentions) so quick to jump on social media to make points about what went wrong and how things should be fixed.

Maybe what we really need to do is pray and then listen to God’s instructions on how to be part of the change.

One universal truth we do know is Satin and sin went wrong, and Jesus is the solution.

“...The prayer of a righteous person has great effectiveness.” James 5:16
