Love a Bible for your kids
(or family, friend, future spouse, future child, ministry)...
My daughter is hitting the later years of high school and it has started to hit me that she will be launching out on her own soon. As we start looking up requirements for some of her dream schools, sign up for entrance tests, and plan some campus visits, it has been on my heart that she never lose sight of what is most important…her relationship with Jesus. I’ve always prayed for my kids, but I want to be more intentional, and at the same time create something I can give them when they do leave home after high school.
My plan is to mark-up Bibles for her and my son verses I want them to remember and notes from me throughout. I am going to add to it a little at time using passages I come across as part of my personal Bible studies. My plan is to give it to them when they leave home to begin the next phase of their lives. I pray it is something they will look at often to seek wisdom from God and encouragement. Perhaps it will be just the thing they need to refer to on a particularly hard or heartbreaking day, which we all know will come.

You don’t have to have an older child to start. You don’t even have to have a child. Maybe you want to start a Bible marking up the prayers for your future husband and you can give it to them on your wedding day. Or maybe you want to mark one up for an unbelieving family member or friend you have been praying opens their hearts to Jesus.
Another great opportunity is to mark up BIbles to give away. My friend, Ann Marie, has a Loved Bible Project ministry where she loves Bibles for the homeless in her community (here is a link to her website which has tons of great resources). For someone down on their luck and new to the whole Jesus thing, a marked up Bible might be a bit less intimidating to dig into and the encouraging notes throughout could be just the Word they need.
Verses to Love your Bible...
If you are loving a Bible over a long period of time, you can just incorporate what you are studying on your own into the passages you mark up. If you are loving Bibles as part of a group project, the links below will give you some verses to use to help get started.
Journaling Bible & Supplies...
If you are loving BIbles as a group project to give away and looking to save some money, ChristianBooks.com often has some great sales where you can get nice compact Bible for $5 or less. LifeWay also has great sales from time to time. Click on the logos to shop their sites.
If you want to invest more in a nice journaling Bible or supplies, below are a few links to check out. I like to look for the easier to read translations (NIV or ESV are my personal favorites) that also have the wide margins for taking notes. My daughter already has a girly journaling Bible, so I am picking the Jesus Bible (which is NIV) to begin marking up for her (I also love all of the commentary/notes included throughout in this Bible). You have time to order one now to get started during Lent (starts on 2/14).
